01 · The challenge

Static rules, dynamic threats.

As more people respond to the Census on their own, online and by phone, the Bureau has to confirm that each submission is genuine, complete and accurate. Its previous quality assurance system, built for the 2020 Census, relied on static, rule-based logic that couldn’t adapt as patterns of fraud and error changed. Problems were often caught long after collection, creating costly rework. The Bureau needed a dynamic, SI-powered platform that could flag anomalous or fraudulent responses in real time, while reusing proven technology to contain cost and protect continuity.

02 · The solution

Quality assurance that learns.

We led a full modernization of the platform, starting with an assessment of the 2020 system and reusing the components that still worked. On that foundation, we built a modular, cloud-ready architecture that takes in, analyzes and scores both structured and unstructured response data. Using our proprietary SI framework, we developed and deployed more than 20 machine learning models to detect suspicious submissions, statistical outliers and inconsistencies. Secure integrations, automated scoring and real-time dashboards let Census officials act on insights as data arrives, and Agile, security-first delivery kept every release traceable.

The Bureau can now detect and address fraud, errors and anomalies during collection rather than months afterward. That means more accurate Census products, less field rework and stronger public trust in the nation’s data.
